Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How will I pay for home care?

A: Home care services are available through Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance and private pay.

Q: Who is eligible for home care?

A: Anyone is eligible to receive home visits, but special requirements must be met if Medicare or your insurance is to cover the cost of visits.

Home care referrals may be made by a doctor, patient, family member, friend or other concerned person.

You may request a professional assessment visit to determine your specific needs at no cost.

Q: What qualifies me for Medicare?

A: If you meet the following requirements, Medicare will pay 100 percent of the cost of home visits. You will not need to submit any claims to Medicare.

  1. A doctor indicates your need for home health care and sets up a plan of treatment for you.
  2. You are confined to your home.
  3. Your condition requires skilled nursing, physical therapy or speech therapy on a part-time basis.
  4. The home health agency is a participating Medicare agency such as KAH Home Health Care.
